About
the Cathedral
The Cathedral of the Incarnation is the home church
of the Rt. Rev. Louis
Campese, Bishop Ordinary, who presides over the Diocese
of the Eastern United States of the Anglican
Church in America.
About the Anglican Church in America and the Traditional Anglican
Communion
The Anglican
Church In America (ACA) is among the largest of several "Continuing
Churches" which emerged from the Affirmation
of St. Louis and the 1977 gathering of faithful Anglicans which
produced that document. The current President of the ACA House of
Bishops is the Rt. Rev. Louis Falk. The ACA is
part of the Traditional Anglican Communion (TAC).
The Traditional
Anglican Communion is a worldwide body of some half million
members on six continents. The Primate of the TAC is Archbishop
John Hepworth of Australia. The TAC is orthodox and solidly traditional
in its teaching and practice. By contrast, the Canterbury-based
Communion, which includes The Episcopal Church in the USA (TEC),
emphasizes "inclusiveness" and embraces a wide range of
belief, practice, and moral teaching. The TAC shares a common ancestry
with Canterbury, including Apostolic Succession, but there is no
direct hierarchical or organizational connection between us. As
stated in the Affirmation of St Louis, however, we remain in communion
with "all faithful parts of the Anglican Communion."
About Our Faith
We maintain and uphold the essentials of
the Catholic faith in its Anglican expression.
Our ways are ancient and our faith is unchanging. In the midst of
the turbulent sea of the ever-changing world around us, we stand
on the Rock of Jesus Christ as He has been made known to us in the
teaching of the Holy Apostles, the Holy Church and the Holy Bible
as the sole source of that peace which the world cannot give; the
peace of God, which passes man's understanding.
We joyfully affirm the Three
Catholic Creeds.
The principles of the "Continuing Church" are set forth
in Affirmation
of St. Louis.
A brief pamphlet entitled "The
Anglicans - Who are they? What is their faith?",
written by The Most Rev. Louis W. Falk, former Primate of the ACA,
provides a summary of our history, principles and practice.
About
Our Vision
As a part of the Church, our primary goal is to prepare
people for the world to come. We preserve the keys to the gates
of heaven: the Word and the Sacraments. We offer the Living Water
to all who thirst, free of charge. We aim to love each other and
all people the way Christ has loved us. We aim to be like a city
on a hill, our light so shining before men that they will be moved
to praise God.
We are also committed to our Lord's command to "Go therefore
and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them
to observe all things that I have commanded you." (St. Matthew
28:19-20) To that end we teach and encourage the laity to "always
be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for
the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear" (1 St. Peter
3:15).
We pray that you will soon visit our church with the expectation
that you will be able to worship with a church family that will
welcome you with open arms, a loving spirit, and a solid commitment
to bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
